He says
My bronzes are a continuation of the landscape paintings, the impressions that man has left over the centuries.
References to old field patterns, ogham markings on ancient stone, echos of past habitation recur frequently.
It fascinates me the way man has tried to tame the sea by adding breakwaters or to contain nature by building dry stone walls.

The painting was inspired by the Glen Car waterfall in County Leitrim in Ireland which in turn inspired Yeats to write"The Stolen Child"
