Laurie Moses

Laurie paints mainly in oils, enjoying the flexibility this gives of being able to manipulate the paint. However she occasionally uses watercolour in the sketch book as well as pencil and charcoal.

Laurie Moses

She says
My paintings are about trying to translate the first impressions of the landscape and pin them down, impressions not just of the topography, but of the light and weather too. Although I return to the same place in West Cork, Ireland frequently, these factors make each moment standing before the same landscape infinitely variable. It changes from moment to moment especially in the periphery.

Although Laurie returns to Southern Ireland often, recent visits to Cornwall and Vancouver Island in British Columbia have opened up new sources of inspiration.
